The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of characters living within the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented recently. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans create a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
